St. Cecilia Welcomes New Principal

Emily Roth

The community at St. Cecilia School and Academy is excited to welcome their newest member, Mrs. Emily Roth, an educator with global experience who will begin her new role as principal on April 1 as Mrs. Mary Loux, currently in the role, departs to give full-time attention to her growing family.

Native to St. Louis, where she was active with LifeTeen at Incarnate Word and developed her love for community service, Mrs. Roth holds a B.A. in Diversified Liberal Arts with a Teaching Credential from the University of San Diego as well as a Master’s of Science in International Education from the State University of New York in Buffalo. Additionally, she has done post-grad and certificate work in leadership and group dynamics, educational administration, and administrative services.

Following her undergraduate degree, Mrs. Roth returned to St. Louis for a year as a Religion & Values teacher at Incarnate Word before then moving to Guatemala to teach first-graders at the Colegio Interamericano, where she gained fluency in Spanish. From 2006 to 2013, she taught first- and fourth-graders at the American Community School of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, followed by two years in Malaysia working with educational technology. She has since returned to the US to be closer to family.

According to Mrs. Roth’s leadership philosophy, she believes that “relationships are the foundation and key to any success, particularly for a positive school climate,” and her student-driven approach guides her to believe that “every school decision, whether it be the bell schedule or staff professional learning days, should be ethically made with the students’ best interest in mind” and have the backing of good data. She looks forward to an educational environment in her home city at a school with a global perspective that puts the Gospel into action.

Mrs. Roth will start her new position on April 1. Mrs. Loux will depart at the end of the school year for maternity leave, and the approximately two months of overlap between the two will allow for Mrs. Roth to transition to her new role under the guidance of her predecessor.
