St. Joseph School

Imperial, MO
St. Joseph-Imperial School Building

Saint Joseph School is conveniently located in Imperial, along the I-55 corridor in Jefferson County. Here God is first and our students learn to appreciate all the blessings of life, family, and community. Our Pastor, Fr. Daniel Shaughnessy, is a supportive and caring shepherd of our entire parish community. The Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a congregation of women religious, serve in the parish and the school. Our core values—formed in faith, shaped by tradition, nurtured as family, encircled with care, and empowered by life — are lived daily. From our humble beginnings in Kimmswick over a century ago, we have developed a tradition of academic excellence. We welcome children of all faiths and accept applications on a rolling basis.

Sister Carol Sansone, ASCJ

Saint Joseph School, a Catholic co-educational elementary school, promotes academic excellence rooted in Gospel values, fosters the formation of minds, hearts and spirits and encourages growth in responsibility and service.

Our program assists in forming students in faith, academic excellence, and service in the Catholic tradition. Students develop a moral compass and conscience through a variety of activities designed to benefit others.

Participation in twice-weekly school liturgies and the celebration of special religious events provides students with an enhanced understanding of the planning, presentation, and sacredness of these religious traditions.

CLEVERTOUCH Boards are operational in all classrooms (including Pre-K levels), the cafeteria, the Makerspace lab, the music room, and the art room. Faculty members have laptops to facilitate the use of technology in the classroom. Additionally, we offer accelerated reading and Freckle math, Capit Learning in grade 2, art, music, and band, and robotics in grade 6.

We have a registered nurse available daily. We are a Heart Safe school and via the Project Adam program we have a team trained in the use of AED and CPR.  We also have EpiPens on campus.

We also have a full-time learning consultant, a hot lunch program, before- and after-school care, an active Home & School Association and supportive School Board, and Today & Tomorrow Educational Foundation Scholarships.

Finally, students may participate in many extracurricular activities including athletics, Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, and Green Team Recycling.

Dynamic Community

We provide 21st Century skills by working with parent and community leadership groups. Based on gospel values, we find ways to collaborate to provide excellence and develop leadership in our Church and academic promise in the classroom. We collaborate with organizations such as  the St. Louis Art Museum and the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra.

We also have a strong focus on service with projects supporting the American Heart Association, Children’s Hospital, our local first responders, and Sr. Christine’s Food Pantry in our own parish.
