More than 160 welcomed at New Teacher Orientation
The Archdiocese of St. Louis welcomed more than 160 new educators to the Cardinal Rigali Center on Monday, August 3, for its annual New Teacher Orientation, a day dedicated to preparing teachers for their first year teaching in our Catholic schools.
The new teachers arrived ready to bring their God-given gifts into the classroom, joining a mission that reaches far beyond academics: forming students to grow in mind, heart, and spirit.
A day of welcome, learning, and worship
Teachers were greeted with a vibrant welcome from the Cardinal Ritter High School pep band, that set a joyful tone for the day.
Superintendent Maureen DePriest and Archbishop Mitchell T. Rozanski formally welcomed teachers into the vocation of Catholic education. Teachers then had some time to share in small groups why they chose this career the passions that keep them coming back each day.
The day also featured three workshops to introduce teachers to various aspects of Catholic education including academics, faith formation, and special education.
The sessions were hosted by members of the Office of Catholic Education and Formation and were designed to equip new teachers with the tools and support they'll need as they begin their teaching journey in archdiocesan schools.
Archbishop Rozanski celebrated Mass in the beautiful St. Vincent DePaul chapel to close the day and ground it in prayer.
Please keep our teachers in your prayers
As these dedicated men and women embark on their first year of teaching in the archdiocese, we ask you to keep them in your prayers; that their willingness to answer yes to this calling will shape the hearts and minds of their students for years to come.
Welcome to the Archdiocese of St. Louis school family! Thank you, teachers, for saying yes to the mission of Catholic education.
