“Be who you are and be that well.” These timeless words from founder St. Francis de Sales - challenging each young woman to develop her distinct gifts – underpin the Visitation Academy Upper School student journey.

Viz is well-versed in the benefits of an all-girl education, the product of nearly 200 years of educating girls and doing it exceptionally well. We are devoted to developing and celebrating the strengths found within each young woman who walks through our doors. A distinct educational philosophy and a challenging curriculum stimulate curiosity and instill lifelong learning skills. Viz students have a deep passion for education and are among the region’s highest-achieving students.

Each Viz student seeks to integrate the Salesian little virtues of cheerful optimism, joy, and gentle strength into every aspect of her life. She embraces each member of God’s creation as Mary greeted Elizabeth - with profound respect and love.

Viz girls thrive in an environment full of opportunities that allows them to BE: challenged academically, stimulated creatively, encouraged athletically, inspired personally, supported emotionally, filled spiritually, and appreciated and loved for their unique, authentic selves.

Viz has earned its reputation as the place to BE for an all-girl education, as evidenced by our #1 ranking from Niche in the Best All-Girls Schools in Missouri category for ten years and counting.

Mission

Visitation Academy is a community that exists to educate children and young women and to receive and share Jesus as Mary did in her visitation to Elizabeth.

In an environment that values excellence in scholarship, spirituality, leadership, and service, this Visitation community encourages students to develop their unique gifts.

As students learn to live Jesus with gentleness, humility, joy, and freedom, they are prepared to continue to grow and to respond to others, the Church, and the global community.

Faith

Viz is rooted in Catholicism and strengthened by Salesian Spirituality, which is known for its universality and down-to-earth practicality. Because it is based on an understanding of human nature and the movement of God’s grace in each individual’s life, people of all ages, cultures, and religions can embrace it. Just like St. Francis, Viz students are encouraged to live the little virtues, contributing to a respectful, loving community of faith.

Academic

A classical academic foundation with modern educational offerings - including Fellowship and Entrepreneurial programs - and diverse electives allows students to expand their horizons in unimaginable ways. A low student-to-teacher ratio ensures each student receives the needed attention and support. Faculty members genuinely know our students and personalize their engagement with the curriculum. Students are supported further with an integrated counseling department, focused on individual student needs and aspirations.

Enrichment

Students who value academic excellence balanced with a well-rounded school-life experience thrive at Visitation Academy. Our students want to be challenged academically and personally. Viz offers ample opportunities to explore and expand areas of academic, spiritual, and extracurricular interest, broadening their knowledge and experience base to reach their fullest potential. Viz students are poised, intelligent, and self-assured, positioned for success in the classroom, in college, and in life.
