“Be who you are and be that well.” These timeless words from founder St. Francis de Sales - challenging each child to develop their distinct gifts – underpin the Visitation Academy student journey.

The goals of the Viz Montessori program – now approaching 60 years since its inception – remain the same. With Montessori classrooms for Toddlers (2-3-year-olds) and Pre-Kindergarten (3-5-year-olds) and an innovative Kindergarten program that blends a more structured setting with the Montessori philosophy, the Visitation Academy coed Montessori program continues to help children reach their full potential in all areas of life.

Since 1833, our all-girl programs for Grades 1-5 in the Viz Lower School and Grades 6-8 in the Viz Middle School have been tailored to the unique way girls learn, instilling confidence and self-esteem. Our girls can freely express opinions, ask questions, excel in academics and athletics, develop talents, and become leaders. Viz students are prepared to achieve and feel empowered to take on new challenges.

Each Viz student seeks to integrate the Salesian little virtues of cheerful optimism, joy, and gentle strength into every aspect of her life. She embraces each member of God’s creation as Mary greeted Elizabeth - with profound respect and love.

Viz has earned its reputation as the place to BE for an all-girl education. Viz girls thrive in an environment full of opportunities that allows them to BE: challenged academically, stimulated creatively, encouraged athletically, inspired personally, supported emotionally, filled spiritually, and appreciated and loved for their unique, authentic selves.

Mission Statement

Visitation Academy is a community that exists to educate children and young women and to receive and share Jesus as Mary did in her visitation to Elizabeth.

In an environment that values excellence in scholarship, spirituality, leadership, and service, this Visitation community encourages students to develop their unique gifts.

As students learn to live Jesus with gentleness, humility, joy, and freedom, they are prepared to continue to grow and to respond to others, the Church, and the global community.

Academic

A classical academic foundation with modern educational offerings - including Fellowship and Entrepreneurial programs - and diverse electives allows students to expand their horizons in unimaginable ways. A low student-to-teacher ratio ensures each student receives the needed attention and support. Faculty members genuinely know our students and personalize their engagement with the curriculum. Students are supported further with an integrated counseling department, focused on individual student needs and aspirations.

Enrichment

Students who value academic excellence balanced with a well-rounded school-life experience thrive at Visitation Academy. Our students want to be challenged academically and personally. Viz offers ample opportunities to explore and expand areas of academic, spiritual, and extracurricular interest, broadening their knowledge and experience base to reach their fullest potential. Viz students are poised, intelligent, and self-assured, positioned for success in the classroom, in college, and in life.

Quality

A Visitation education equips young women with the knowledge, virtues and skills to thrive in the world ahead. Across all schools and departments, faculty members know our students by name and share a focus on their engagement with our curriculum. We understand learning doesn’t only happen in the classroom, and we are invested in a student-first approach that emphasizes creativity and problem-solving skills students can rely on for a lifetime.
